FWF & Project Life....ish

Hi Everyone!

I've been trying to get some work done on my Project Life...ish. Ish because it's not daily, weekly, or monthly. It's whatever!
Unity stamp, balloon punch, deco scissors, foam alpha stamps, embellies cut from the cards.

Unity stamp, foam alpha stamps, sticker alphas, sharpies
 Cricut, alpha punches
 Unity stamps, alpha punches, Spellbinders
I figured using PL would help me get the YEARS of photos I have into albums. I took all the pics from 1990 and put them in the sleeves. Now I just have to add papers & stuff. The year is almost done. Next I take 1991 and start again. I'm hoping to get a year done in 1-2 months. Maybe I'll get caught up in a couple years :)
I'm really enjoying the process of this type of scrapbooking. I'm also realizing a couple things.
I'm using more of the tools that I've collected. I can't remember the last time I used my Cricut or the alpha punches but they're starting to get a work out now :)
I also have to remember that this is NOT a regular scrapbook page. Each pocket can be different :) I think once I get to where I have more 4x6 photos it will be easier to remember.
Now if only Angela would create a PL stamp kit with arrows, labels,  a lined background stamp, ....

Tattered Floral challenge

I made a tag!
I have very little Tim Holtz, other than embossing folders, but I decided to try making a tag anyway. I had fun making this......just let myself go. I'm entering it into the challenge even though I won't win. (I'd probably feint if I did) I quit counting the entries around 320. Still fun though and it forces me to USE what I bought :)

Challenges :)

Hi Everyone!
Today is challenge day for me.

First up is, of course, for the new Unity color challenge. I had cut out a bunch of butterflies for another project but I decided to use them for this card instead.

Next up is for the Tim Holtz Tattered Floral challenge. I bought the die on sale so I could actually enter this challenge. I'm not likely to win but the card was fun to make. I didn't add a sentiment because I'm not sure how I'll use it....birthday, get well, thanks....

The last one (really 6) is for Sue's Cricut and Crafts Christmas card challenge.  It's a color challenge...only use red, green, and white.

Card 1
Stamps: Unity Direction of Happy, Blossom Stackers
Ink: ColorBox, StazOn
Embossing folder: Spellbinders
Card 2
Die: Tattered Floral
Black Tulle & ribbon
Card 3
Stamps: Unity Christmas Eve Chowder, Stampin Up Jolly Bingo Bits

Have a GREAT WEEK and be sure to stop by the Unity blog to check out the fun & sales.

FWF

High Everyone!
Quick post today. I used the February Kit of the Month to make this card. I'll be sending it to my sister along with a bunch of box tops for education. I think she'll like it.

Be sure to check out the Unity blog. It's throw back Thursday!  Angela is also going to start a new membership line called Layers of Life. I really like the stamps she showed on Facebook but I can't do the weekly thing. Oh well.
Have a great week!!

Kanzashi Mixed Media.

Hi Everyone!
I was browsing Pinterest and came across a Japanese flower technique called  Kanzashi. The flowers are made by folding squares of fabric to make the petals. I did a search to see if there was a way to make them from paper and found this site: U Can do Stuff. I first tried it with cardstock but the folds didn't work. So I tried regular copy paper. That worked. And, unlike the instructions, I joined the petals with thread. I used the Heidi Swapp color shine to color the finished flowers.

The sentiment is from the Dec. 2010 Kit of the Month.

Have a great week!!

A little mixed media

Susan Weckesser has a challenge on her blog. It's an inspiration challenge. Unity has one too. So..... I made this.
I just had so much fun making this little canvas. It's really outside my comfort zone. I used Making Memories paints; Studio G, ColorBox, and Unity ink; Sharpies; and paper. The stamps are, of course, Susan K. Weckesser's Unity kit 'Create your Day'

FWF

Hi Everyone!
I didn't play FWF last week because I just couldn't find my mojo. It was an aggravating week for me. But this week was better so here I am!
I saw that SCS had some challenges going on so I decided to try the color one that Unity is hosting. The colors aren't what I would have put together but I like how it turned out.
The stamp is from the Jan 2011 Kit of the Month.
Have a fun week!

FWF & Project Life

Hi Everyone! I hope you are all doing well.
I have been seeing Project Life everywhere lately using Becky Higgins and/or We R Memory Keepers. I think it's an awesome way to scrapbook. Especially for me since I only have a few years actually scrapbooked. I have been hoping for a system to get a lot done but still have that ability to do actual layouts. The Project Life system is just what I was needing, wanting. So, I have been researching all the different elements....album, protector sleeves, fillers..... I decided to start with my wedding pictures since September 3rd of this year will be my 25th ANNIVERSARY! I'll be using the WRMK since I can get everything I need at Michael's or Joann.com. I know that with my Unity collection I could make all the filler cards and journaling cards I would need.
My wedding colors were red and black so I created a few cards just to see what they would look like. I realized I need to buy a red ink pad that is more of a true red than the one I have. I think I'll be using lots of embossing powder too ;)  I'm sure I'll be able to find enough Unity stamps to use throughout the whole album.
After this album it will be time to get the rest of my pictures into albums.
Have a great week! If you're in the path of the latest storm...BE SAFE & WARM!

FWF & an update

Another week has flown by. I'm still working on organizing all my photos. I found more portraits for the family book and more old photos. I also found a comment on a message board that led me to start a free family tree on Ancestry.com. I can really get lost hours on that site. Being on the ancestry site made me think about all the old photos that I have and what I should do with them. I think I found a solution. :) I have an old photo album that I gave my mom years ago. It holds 200 4x6 photos. Since the old photos are not 4x6 I decided to do this:
I used the keys from the 'We Treasure You' kit and the Ferris wheel from the Aug. 2011 kotm. I can fill in some of the openings with a bit of family history. I think this will be a fun project!

UPDATE: Last week I did the coloring book for my great niece. She really liked painting the images with watercolor paints and pencils.

I had cut a bunch of scraps into squares and rectangles and she used them to decorate the covers for her book.

Have a great week!

FWF & organizing....still

Hi everyone! It's FRIDAY again!
I was all set to make a card for FWF until I realized I'm watching my great niece today. She'll be here till some time tomorrow. That is if the snow doesn't cancel everything. Anyway, she loves to paint birdhouses but I forgot to get one. So, I did the next best thing. I made her a bunch of coloring pages using my Unity stamps. I stamped them all with StazOn so she can watercolor them if she wants.
When she's done coloring the images I'll add a cover and back in the color of her choice and put the pages onto rings.I think she'll have fun with this.
This second photo is what I've been working on for weeks now. The boxes are full pictures that I'm trying to get together and sort through. Most of them are done. The book with the pictures of my niece is another organizing project. I collected all the school & portrait pics I could find of each of my family members. I inherited lots of pics from my Mom. They are all put together in this binder. I mounted them all on white card-stock and put them in page protectors. No patterned paper, embellies. Nothing but photos. I might eventually add some patterned papers. It would use up LOTS of scraps. But it's ok for now. The other open album and the closed one are the school books for my kids. I thought my son's was almost done until I found more pics in those boxes.
Don't forget to check out the Unity blog for the FWF, new releases, and a SALE!

I finally got time to make cards for Sue's Cricut and Crafts January challenge. The theme for this challenge is trees.

I hope you decide to play along!

FWF

Another week has just flown by! I'm not feeling very creative lately. Most every thing I tried making hit the circular file. This card I did without thinking. I love the Donna Downey stamps because they work no matter what.
All you need is a stamp and a sentiment and call it done.

That's it for me today. It's almost dinner time. And I might take a look at Unity's garage sale......

Have a great week!

FWF

Hi everyone!
I haven't done much creating lately. I'm trying to ORGANIZE. It's a work in progress ;) I tried entering FWF last week but Mr. Linky was hiding from me. If you'd like to see the canvas I made, look here. So here's this week's entry.

For this weeks card I used the Dec 12 KOM. I love the stamps in this kit! Sorry for the photo. I can't seem to get it any clearer. Maybe because I stamped it on photo paper.
Anyway....Have you checked out the Unity Angie's Birthday sale yet?
40% off!
And I LOVE the new AngieGirl stamps!! They're all FABULOUS!
Andi & Lizzie I think are my favorites.
Well DD is up and I'm sure she'll want to go shopping since she doesn't have to work.

Happy Birthday Angela!!

FYI: Sue's Cricut and Crafts has started the Christmas challenges. The theme for January is trees so get out your stamps and play. The rules are a little different but there are still prizes to be won. Check it out:  Sue's Cricut and Crafts
You can use any company's products so get those Unity trees inked up :)

an Inspired FWF

Hi everyone! Hope you all have a fantastic holiday. Mine was nice but I'm glad that it's over. I already took down my decorations. Now I can get back to crafting.

While hopping along on FWF I came across Gwen's blog..Windchimes and Lilacs. Go look :) She made these beautiful canvases with a pattern for a girl that she found from this blog.. I waned to try it but not on a 12x12. Soooo, I shrunk the pattern and made it fit on a 5x7 canvas.

I really enjoyed making this even though it's not as well done as Gwen's. I used a few Unity stamps on the background. The words were done with foam alpha stamps that I've had forever.

Have an awesome week :)

Congrats to Karen (Karey2005)!! She won for commenting on my blog last week.

The last FWF of 2012

Hi everyone! I hope Santa treated you well. He brought me a bunch of Unity and I finally got time to ink one up.
I made this CAS card to send to my sister. She's been in town all week but headed back today. I want to mail it tomorrow so she'll get it on Monday.

I'm sure you know that there's a great sale at Unity this weekend.

Have a great week
and
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Merry Christmas FWF

I needed a couple tags for gifts. These two came together pretty quick.
I think they turned out well. The one on the left is covered in washi tape. On the right was done by making an embossing folder into a stamp using a gelato.

It's going to be a busy day today. Out for last minute shopping then home for more baking. I still have a few more cookies to make and fudge too.

Since this is my last post before Christmas I wanted to wish everyone a
Very Merry Christmas

Little gift card bags

I have been wanting to make something using a Tim Holtz technique. The one where he uses ink and water on the craft mat. I finally made something today....mainly because i needed a couple little bags. The color in the photo are a little washed out. I tried getting a better photo.
All products used are by Ranger. I used peeled paint distress ink and heirloom gold perfect pearls mixed together to make the paper. The rosette is edged in gold using an acrylic paint dabber.
The technique was a lot of fun to do. I'm sure I'll be doing more of this technique.
Thanks for looking.

Stamped wrapping paper

I usually don't make my own wrapping paper but I decided to give it a try. Especially since Ranger is having a challenge.

I don't have many Ranger products besides Stickles but I like how this turned out. My daughter liked it too. I'm glad because it's for her ;)
All I did was takes a sheet of copy paper and misted it with Perfect Pearls Mist in Perfect Pearl. Once it dried I stamped the Unity snowflake stamps using Broken China distressed ink and a silver Dabber. The ribbon, beads, and snowflakes are from my Christmas stash. I even added some silver Stickles to the snowflakes.
I might have to try another gift wrap project with the peeled paint ink and gold Stickles, Dabber, and Mist.  I sometimes make mini trees so I have lots of gold ornaments to add too.

Merry Christmas mini

I decided to make a couple mini canvases today. I'm not sure how I'm going to use them though. Maybe as ornaments? Hang one on the wall? Gift tag?
Here's a closer look. There's tiny gold dots all over the paper just to give it a little texture and shine.

Paper: Basic Grey Aspen frost
Stamps: Unity Bitty Backgrounds & Christmas Eve Chowder
Paint: Faber Castell Cherry Red Gelato, Ranger Gold Paint Dauber
Greenery, ornaments, bow: from my stash.
