The last FWF of 2012

Hi everyone! I hope Santa treated you well. He brought me a bunch of Unity and I finally got time to ink one up.
I made this CAS card to send to my sister. She's been in town all week but headed back today. I want to mail it tomorrow so she'll get it on Monday.

I'm sure you know that there's a great sale at Unity this weekend.

Have a great week
and
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Merry Christmas FWF

I needed a couple tags for gifts. These two came together pretty quick.
I think they turned out well. The one on the left is covered in washi tape. On the right was done by making an embossing folder into a stamp using a gelato.

It's going to be a busy day today. Out for last minute shopping then home for more baking. I still have a few more cookies to make and fudge too.

Since this is my last post before Christmas I wanted to wish everyone a
Very Merry Christmas

Little gift card bags

I have been wanting to make something using a Tim Holtz technique. The one where he uses ink and water on the craft mat. I finally made something today....mainly because i needed a couple little bags. The color in the photo are a little washed out. I tried getting a better photo.
All products used are by Ranger. I used peeled paint distress ink and heirloom gold perfect pearls mixed together to make the paper. The rosette is edged in gold using an acrylic paint dabber.
The technique was a lot of fun to do. I'm sure I'll be doing more of this technique.
Thanks for looking.

Stamped wrapping paper

I usually don't make my own wrapping paper but I decided to give it a try. Especially since Ranger is having a challenge.

I don't have many Ranger products besides Stickles but I like how this turned out. My daughter liked it too. I'm glad because it's for her ;)
All I did was takes a sheet of copy paper and misted it with Perfect Pearls Mist in Perfect Pearl. Once it dried I stamped the Unity snowflake stamps using Broken China distressed ink and a silver Dabber. The ribbon, beads, and snowflakes are from my Christmas stash. I even added some silver Stickles to the snowflakes.
I might have to try another gift wrap project with the peeled paint ink and gold Stickles, Dabber, and Mist.  I sometimes make mini trees so I have lots of gold ornaments to add too.

Merry Christmas mini

I decided to make a couple mini canvases today. I'm not sure how I'm going to use them though. Maybe as ornaments? Hang one on the wall? Gift tag?
Here's a closer look. There's tiny gold dots all over the paper just to give it a little texture and shine.

Paper: Basic Grey Aspen frost
Stamps: Unity Bitty Backgrounds & Christmas Eve Chowder
Paint: Faber Castell Cherry Red Gelato, Ranger Gold Paint Dauber
Greenery, ornaments, bow: from my stash.

U.S.A.

I had so much fun making the mini love canvas that I decided to make another one. Since we just had the elections and Veteran's Day I wanted to make a patriotic mini.

I first primed the canvas with gesso.
I then added the blueberry gelato all around the sides of the canvas and spread the color with a wet paintbrush.
I did the stripes on the top the same way using the red cherry gelato. As you can see it doesn't take much of the gelatos to get a lot of color.  When the gelatos dried it was time to embellish.
For the USA I textured the chipboard letters by tapping on the gesso. They were then colored using the gelatos and put on with foam squares. The Mrs. Grossman flag stickers and ribbon I found in my "collection". I punched out some tiny stars from paper that I ran through my Xyron to add around the sides.
Here is the finished canvas. Since I have two more canvases what should I do next? Maybe St. Patrick's Day since I have the green set of Gelatos. :)

I am in LOVE

For a long time I have been seeing projects and videos using these things called Gelatos by Faber-Castell. I loved what I was seeing but I couldn't find them at any of my local stores. This past week when I went craft shopping I found something amazing. GELATOS at Joann's!! They had all the color packs....and a coupon. I am now the owner of three color packs and the black/white pack.
I couldn't wait to use them so here is my first project.
I bought a pack of little canvases from Michael's a while ago and finally broke them out. I primed the canvas with gesso then spread the light pink gelato with my fingers in the middle and used a wet brush with the red gelato. (They're so much fun). Next I stamped the script and music notes (7Gypsies/Hampton Art) and toned it down with more pink. On the chipboard letters I tapped on the gesso to give them texture then smeared them with the red gelato. I added some Maya road embellishments and a Ben Franklin quote around the sides.
I'm entering this in the Design Memory Craft thankful challenge. Love is definitely something I'm thankful for :)

FWF and the final Chick Challenge

Happy Friday Everyone!

It's been a busy week for me because my sister Pam is in town again. I love it when she's here. I just wish she would move back instead of visiting. Her grandchildren love to create things and you can see their creations here. She is coming over tonight and tomorrow. My other sister, Kim (I have 4 of them) is coming over tomorrow too. Along with her daughter and and her kids. I'm going to have a FULL house. I LOVE it!

Anyway, Chick Challenges with Ippity is having their final challenge. It's been so much fun entering the challenges and I'm sad that they are ending. Here is my entry:
I used my watercolor crayons and some Stickles. I love the watercolor crayons because I can color the image then add the water. Much neater and I can stay in the lines :)

Have a FABULOUS week!

A new technique

Ranger and Dreamweaver Stencils showed a technique that I wanted to try. Although I don't have any Dreamweaver stencils, I do have a few jars of Ranger embossing powder and some regular stencils. I used my Xyron to add adhesive to a piece of card stock. Then I soaped the back of the stencil with Ivory soap and put it down on the card stock...soap side down. The next step is to add the evergreen embossing powder. I then lifted the stencil and poured the seafoam white powder on top of everything. The final step is heat embossing it all. Here is my finished card. Since I used an ivy stencil I wanted to keep it simple and masculine.
The Happy Birthday is a Unity Stamp.

All the stamps are small and perfect for gift tags.
These are just a few of them. The set has 24 stamps and I made 3 of each.

Family crafting

My sister from Florida is in town again watching her grandchildren while their parents are away. She brought the kids over to visit. They love coming to my house because I have crafting stuff and video games :) The youngest (3 years old), Karyna, wanted to paint. Out came the watercolor crayons and canvas.
Hers is on the left and her brother ((almost 11 and a twin), Gaheris,  did the one on the right. The other twin, Corben, wanted to paint a birdhouse.
The colors should give you an idea of where we're from ;)
When I was showing the kids how to use the watercolor crayons I made this ATC.
I had brought out the Ranger Perfect pearls mists and sprayed the card. I really like the effect. I'm really happy with the demo ATC :)
I need to go to the craft store soon for more birdhouses and canvas. Maybe I'll pick up some boxes too.

FWF

Happy Friday!!
I hope everyone had a good week.

I stepped outside my comfort zone with today's card. I'm not one for mixing patterns unless it's all in the same color and from the same brand. The pumpkins were made using a punch for the large one and Coluzzle for the smaller one. The stamp is from the Ippity set Music of my Heart.

Have a great week! I'll be waiting for Frankenstorm to hit early next week. It's so hard to believe that this week was in the upper 70s and next week we'll be lucky to see 50.

Thankful it's FALL

Another Friday, another Friends with Flair. Hope everyone had a good week.

I'm trying to use the crafting things that I buy. Usually I buy things then put them away, never to be seen again. The paper and fiber are the oldest from my stash.
I'm going to have a busy day today....Babysitting my almost 1 great niece this afternoon then I have my great twin nephews and a niece to watch overnight. I'm off to get a few birdhouses to give them something to do tomorrow.

Unity is having a sale....40% off almost everything. Check it out...Unity and the FWF  on the Unity blog.

Halloween house

I like decorating the $1.00 birdhouses that Michael's and JoAnn's sell. I have quite a few of them. Here is my most recent one. I made it for the Unity challenge to use banners or pennants and the Crafty Steals third Thursday challenge to 1) use at least one of the colors; black, purple, orange and 2) use buttons, brads, or eyelets.
I started out by painting the house purple and orange. Since the purple showed pink on the edges I added black ink on all the edges. There's Making Memories green fiber around the top, under the roof, and at the base. I stamped the banner using Unity's Life Documented Banner set. The bow is also Making Memories. The bottom is wrapped in black tulle. I added orange and green Making Memories snaps (they look like a brad but set like an eyelet) to finish it off.
Thanks for looking.

It's Friday

Another week has flown by. Since my daughter got her license I have more time for crafting. And that makes me happy. This week I made 24 invitations for my great neice's 1st birthday.
My niece wanted a black cat in a pumpkin. I found this stamp set online. I used watercolor crayons to color it. It's hard to tell but two of the party words are also colored in.

These two cards are for Ippity challenges. The first one is for the Ippity blog. I have been wanting to try the 'sunset' look on a card for a while now and finally did it. This one is for Chick Challenges.

Have a wonderful week!

Happy Friday! Hope everyone had a good week. Mine was ok. I got the results of a few biopsies. Only one was a slight problem. I have actinic keratosis on my forehead (caused by sun damage) and it required a cryogenic treatment. Now I look like I'm recovering from a gunshot wound :)

These two cards are for a couple challenges.

I entered both into the Ippity challenge to use stitching.

September Christmas Challenge

Sue's Cricut & Crafts challenge for September is up. This month is shaped cards.

I used the Stampin Up Bells & Boughs set and Stickles that I won from last month's challenge. I really love this set. The images are just gorgeous!
It would be great if you could play along!
