PCC week 87 and a lion :)

Hi Everyone!
This week's PaperCrafter's Corner challenge was a fun one.

I immediately knew what I wanted to make.

The paper is from Amy Tangerine. I used pop dots on some of the circles and the sentiment. It went together in less than 20 minutes. Did you know that Papercrafter's Corner has a post series on papercrafting in 20 minutes. Check it out here: http://papercrafterscorner.com/blog/papercrafting-twenty-valentines-treat-giveaway/ (Notice the word giveaway?)

I also wanted to share the finished lion afghan

I figured out it took me about a month to complete. It's made with Lion Brand Jiffy yarn. The pattern comes from the book Vanna's Afghans A to Z and is done in Tunisian crochet.

Here are both afghans together. The dark lion is the one I made for my daughter over 10 years ago.

Have a great week!

PCC #86

Hi Everyone!
Hoping you're all keeping warm. Today it is a balmy 6 degrees. We won't discuss the wind chill.

This week's inspiration is another heart:

For my card I was trying to go with the vintage look but that didn't really work out.
I still like the way it turned out. The image from The Greeting Farm is so cute! I colored it in using my daughter's Prismacolor pencils.

I haven't done very much paper crafting lately. I have a intercostal muscle strain from the cold that I had a couple weeks ago. I spent most of my time crocheting this lion afghan in Tunisian crochet. I'm working on the cross stitching now.
Several years ago I made this afghan for my daughter using the same colors as in the book. Someone very close to me really wanted me to make her one. At the time she was using drugs. I told her if she would quit for 4 years I would make one for her. It took some time but she has been clean for a little over 4 years! I am so extremely proud of her!! I'm hoping finish it this week.

Have an AWESOME week and KEEP WARM!

Challenge Time

Hi Everyone!

I hope you're all warm and not buried under a mountain of snow. We lucked out on this current storm...only in that we have rain in the mix. So not much snow.

I have 3 cards to show today.

And here's my card:

I bought a new sympathy stamp set from unity and had to ink up this heart. I stamped and embossed it in white. When I showed my niece she thought it needed color. So I took out my Spectrum Noirs and started coloring.  I added a Spellbinder's diecut word and the card was done.
My second card was based on need. It was for my niece's baby shower.
I was still working on it when I got a phone call from the party hostess. The shower was cancelled because my niece was heading to the hospital to have the baby. He's a beautiful baby boy!
The last card is for the CraftySteals third Thursday sketch.

I had a bit of a hard time with this one. I don't know why. But I got it done. It's not what I would normally do but I like it.
I think I might try making a few more cards while the Super Bowl is on. I'm waiting for the return of Blacklist after the game.
Have a great week and try to stay warm :)
