PCC #78

Hi Everyone!

I hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving! Ours was very enjoyable. My son's friend (my 'adopted' son) and his girlfriend,  joined us for dinner. I wasn't going to go shopping last night but my daughter wanted a few things that were sure to sell out if we waited. In my defense, we didn't go out till after 10. So that means today is very quiet. Sooooo, I made a card.

At first I couldn't think of anything. But I started with the blue background, then the boxes, then the title,.....

I hand drew the 'Thanks' and the butterflies are natural bark from Prima.
You have till Sunday night to join in. It's always fun to play along!
Now I'm off to see what else I can make. :)

Mixed Media

Hi Everyone!

Have you ever made something unintentionally?
That's what happed with this little canvas.
I had this canvas all done up once but everything was falling off. So, I ripped everything off and put it aside. I have been cleaning up my scraping area when I came across a few sheets of paper that I used to show my sister the ink and alcohol technique. One of them fit the canvas so I glued it on. I didn't know what to do with it.
So back to cleaning.I found a bin of old Making Memories paint. I was just about to throw it out. When I realized that it was about the thickness of modeling paste. Would it work like modeling paste? I grabbed a stencil and gave it a try. It WORKED!
I remembered the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge and figured I could enter it. But the challenge was to use STAMPS. Good thing the Heidi Swapp stencil I used had 3 parts.I used the butterfly cutout as a mask and stamped the background with a Unity/Christy Tomlinson stamp. I did a little more distressing, added the stamped word and I now have a finished canvas.

Wishing everyone a
 HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

PCC #77

Hi everyone!

This week's inspiration at PaperCrafter's Corner challenge is this wonderful Walt Disney cover:

I couldn't figure out what to do since I have very little (if any) Disney. But I did like that red border.....and it is close to Christmas.

I stamped the Santa image on watercolor paper and on cardstock. For the watercolor one I took out my Gelatos to color it.

I really liked it for the challenge. But I still had the other stamped Santa.

So now I have two Christmas cards ready to go. :)
The stamp is from the Karen Meder Collection,  the Peddler's Pack.

A Little Mixed Media

Hi Everyone!

I have been looking around the web this week at blogs, Pinterest, YouTube....
A few places made me want to get out my Gelatos. I wanted to use the new PaperCrafter's Corner as my main inspiration.

Here is what I created:

This little canvas was bought from the dollar bin at Michael's. It originally had fruit or something on it. I've painted it with gesso, white paint, black paint, grey paint, and back to gesso, and back to white. I just couldn't figure out what I wanted to do. Until now.

I took from the inspiration the colors, the red title and the round globe. I began by adding the Gelatos around the edges then worked my way in to the center. I stamped and gold embossed the 'capture confident dreams' Unity stamp. I kept adding Gelatos and wiping it off to finally get it to where the image could be seen. The chipboard letters were painted white then I used red and black Gelatos to color them.

Because of the products I used this also fits with two more challenges..Bonus!

And, I'll be linking up tomorrow for Unity's Friends with Flair.

PaperCrafter's Corner #75 & Moxie Fab World

Hi Everyone!
Wow! Seventy five challenges. I haven't done all of them....but, I've done a quite a few. Always GREAT Inspiration.
And, here's this week's inspiration:

I love all the TREES!
There is a Stampin Up set called 'Lovely as a Tree" that will eventually (hopefully) become part of my collection. Until then I have in Inkadinkadoo stamp that also features trees. I used it and a Unity stamp to create my card.

I stamped the trees with StazOn then used watercolors for the background. Once dry I added color to the trees by dotting with Sharpies. I believe the technique is called pointillism.
I'm also entering this card for the  Tree-mendous Tree Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.
On the PCC blog Stephanie has a running series of posts about ORGANIZATION. Something we all need.I made an organizer a while ago from a cardboard box and patterned paper.
It holds new washi, scissors, black ink, stickers, adhesives, all sorts of things. I have paper scraps with samples of the washi tape I keep stored in a box. I need to do something similar for my embossing folders.

Someone, I can't remember who, came up with the brilliant idea of using magnetic vent covers for holding metal dies. You can find them in Lowes & Home Depot. They're made by Frost King and sold in packs of 3-8x15 sheets.

I cut each sheet into 8x5 so one pack makes 9 sheets.

Hope to see your creations on  PCC soon!

PCC #74 & FWF

Hi Everyone!

For those that celebrate Halloween I hope it was a good one! We only had about 50 kids this year. I think the rain kept them away. But, the ones we did get were ADORABLE! Especially one little boy. My sister handed out candy with me and she called one little boy Sunshine. He promptly told her she couldn't call him Sunshine because he wasn't Sunshine. I asked if I could call him Handsome. He said I could. :) Too CUTE!

Anyway.....Here's this week's magazine inspiration at Paper Crafter's Corner:

I just love black and green together.

I used Unity stamps (Donna Downey & Regal Greetings), photo corners, and a scrap of green paper.

And here are a couple more scrap cards....

Have a great week!!
