triple layer circle

Happy Friday! Quick post today. I have to go shopping :)
I used the Jan kit of the month and my Coluzzle (remember those?) The current KOTM challenge has circles so I decided to try 3 layer stamping on a circle. I might have to do this again.
Have a great WEEK!

FWF & Journal fun

I haven't played in my art journal much. I did the first one a while ago. The second one I did today. I have no idea what I'm doing when I make these pages but that's the whole point, right? No rules.

The first page is for me to write my wishes on which I will do....eventually. The second one started out with daisy and rose printed papers. I added paint and now those papers are gone. Oh well. I think I like the end result.I hope you like them but it's really ok if you don't. If you do journal pages maybe you can give me some tips on making better pages.

There's more to see at the Unity blog. And, of course, there's a sale.

Have a GREAT week!

FWF & Challenges

Happy Friday Everyone!
This weeks card was for the Crafty Steals challenge. I really enjoyed the sketch. I'm trying to enter more challenges. It gives me a much needed push :)
This was for the most recent  challenge at Sue's Cricut and Crafts. I posted about it here. The challenges start on the 5th of the month and the winner is chosen by votes. You can read about it it here...Christmas Challenges. I was the only entry for August :(

Well that's it for me today. Have a great week!!

FWF

Happy Friday everyone! It's not too happy for me because my sister is heading back to Florida after being here for the past few months. :(

Anyway....here's my FWF card for this week.

I used the Marah Johnson Marah Freedom stamp. I had been wanting it for so long and finally bought it. The sentiment is from the Ippity kit called All Things are Possible.

I have been looking for a good metallic ink. I've tried a couple and the ink will either not dry (even after heat setting) or the metallic part will just rub off. Anyone have a recommendation for a good metallic ink? Thanks!.

Inkadinkado

Inkadinkado has a new stamping tool.
It's called Stamping Gear. Here is the Deluxe kit.

"To use, mount a stamp onto the Stamping Gear clear paddle, then stamp the image around your choice of the circle and oval cogs and wheels"

I found it at my local JoAnn's. I've been playing with it all day.
The two cards here were stamped inside the round gear.

There are other stamp sets that you can buy as well. The design possibilities are endless. I've found that any unmounted stamp, like Unity, will work as well.
These are really fun to stamp with. I do have a couple suggestions for them though. One is to make a long bar to stamp images in a straight line. The other is to make more smaller images.

August Christmas Challenge

Time again for the challenge at

This month's challenge is to try a new technique. And make 6 of them. I decided to make a gate fold card since I never made one. There were a few on the web that had two blocks, one attached to either side, instead of the usual single image. So, of course, I had to do that too.

I also tried to make a little scene by adding snow and snowflakes with Stickles.

I now have 24 Christmas cards done!!!

Coloring: Sharpies
Paper: DCWV

FWF

It's Friday and that means Friends with Flair!
I made the background for this card a while ago. It's stamped with the piece of foam that came with some Tim Holtz embossing folders. I couldn't figure out what to make with it....until now. Unity has all the Susan K. Weckesser stamps on sale right now. I decided to use one of the sets to make this card. The set I used is called Create Your Day

Unity is also have a Little Wish sale. Angela asked her customers what was on their wish lists and made a sale featuring some of the wishes.

Have a WONDERFUL week!!

Every time I saw an all white card I wanted to try it. Lydia Fiedler from Splitcoast has a lot of them on Pinterest for the Dare to Get Dirty challenges. Time to give it a try. I pulled out everything I thought I might use and this is the end result. The larger flowers were made using the discards from the Spellbinders. Hope you like it.

Friends with Flair!

The first card was for Chick Challenges with Ippity. I found some plum colored cardstock and I had some Colorbox raisin ink and decided to try stamping tone on tone. I honestly didn't know what would happen. I like how it turned out. The dots on the background were made with a pencil eraser.
I really like the triple layer stamping technique so I decided to try it with paper. I cut the paper to fit the card then cut descending 1/2" 'frames'. I matted the frames on the red cardstock and stacked them. I finished it off with some ribbon, a flower, and a tag.

And it's not too late to join in on Maria Levine's Got {Ippity}? blog hop. See the post here.
Hope everyone has a great week!

Playing with Paint

I have been having fun playing with paint this week. It started with a video by Donna Downey. In one video she used something called Gouache (gwash) paint. It's a watercolor paint that's opaque. I fount a 24 tube pack of paint at Walmart and started playing :)

These two were both done using the gouache paint. I love the bold colors.
This one was done with regular watercolor.
And finally, This one was done with acrylic paint.
This will be my first time entering their challenges.
I already entered the last card in the Ippity challenge to use paint.
It is a sale weekend at Unity in honor of Mr. Unity's birthday. Itty bitty's are by one get one free. All the details are on the blog
Maria Levine can be your chick if you need some Ippity!

Ippity stamps: Music of My Heart, Bloom and Simplify, Angie Girl
Unity stamps: Insightful Meadows, Love Bug

Hope everyone a a fun 4th! My sister is in town for the summer so we had a cookout and then hubby took some of the kids out to watch the fireworks.

The first card I made using the sketch for Chick Challenge #37. I made the second card for the Ippity challenge to use bright colors.
Since it's going to be HOT this weekend I don't plan on leaving my AC dining room! I'll be making cards for the new Chick challenge and Ippity challenge. I'll also be playing with some new Walmart clearance
This was all on sale for $.50 each on Tuesday! I went back on Thursday and the clearance was down to $.10 each. I bought most of this again and more for me and my sister. The second trip includes ribbon, bling, brads, ink, Elmer's spots, stamps..... She's going to be so happy on her next visit :) I just can't figure out how they put the Smash and Studio G washi tape on sale when they never had it in the store. Oh well, I'm a happy crafter. Since I have almost all the Smash accessories I have to get a Smash book, right??

And speaking of sales...Unity is has 21 kits for $4.44 each!

Enjoy your weekend and KEEP COOL!

FWF and a baby shower gift

My nephew's wife is having her baby shower on Saturday. I always make an afghan for the first born. Since they know they're having a boy I made this:
The invitation had a cute little monkey on it and I cut it out to make my card.
I think it turned out cute.
I hope everyone has a great weekend! Unity is having a 55% off sale on some stamps that you might want to check out.
