PCC #50 & FWF

Hi Everyone!

This week's Papercrafter's Corner inspiration for their 50th challenge:

I was going to use watercolors for my card till I realized I did one before. So I used flowers that I had in my stash for way too long!
Very simple but I like it.

Here are a few more cards that I made this week. I used Unity stamps on all but the last one.

Watercolor punched butterflies and Studio Calico paper

Washi tape, Studio Calico paper, Prima flower

Studio Calico paper, Inkadinkado stamps

Have a WONDERFUL WEEK!

PCC Event challenge

Here's another Papercrafter's Corner challenge. It's called Event Stories. It to make a layout for an 'event' that you watched, attended, heard about.... I decided to do a layout from a baseball game.
I used Studio Calico paper. Mainly because it's black & gold....Pittsburgh colors. I downloaded the Pirate logo and colored it in. I really wish my printed understood color!

I was hoping to do all the challenges but I kept getting sidetracked. There's always the weekly Magazine Monday challenges :)

If you want to join in you have till midnight central time.

More challenges

I did another layout for Papercrafter's Corner's Childhood Memories challenge. This time it's about ME! It's more of what the challenge is about.
I've been wanting to do a sisters book. And, yes, there are 5 of us.

The second challenge I did is for the Around Town challenge. We live close to Kennywood amusement park. It's only about 15 minutes away.
This was our second visit. My daughter got sick the first time and we left early.

I hope you decide to play along. The are challenges that and tonight and a couple that end tomorrow. There's also giveaways!

Papercrafter's Corner has weekly challenges, product reviews, organizational ideas, and GIVEAWAYS! See you there!

Papercrafter's Corner Challenge

Happy NSD!

The first challenge at Papercrafter's Corner is to scrapbook a childhood memory. The few photos of me are already in a scrapbook so I chose to use a photo of my grandfather instead.
This is my Gidu (grandfather) on my mother's side. He passed away when I was 8.
There's some fun things going on at PCC. Be sure to stop by!

Celebrate!

Hi Everyone!

There's a few fun things going on this weekend. I'll start off with my entry for Papercrafter's Corner Magazine Monday's week 49 entry. First, the inspiration:
I wasn't sure what to do so I picked out the colors and the car to make a Father's Day card.
I used the May 2011 KOM and the May 2013 KOM

My original idea for this challenge was an ATC but I smeared it :(
I'm showing it anyway. The year on the magazine cover is 1958 and on the card are just a couple facts about the year.
I was playing with my Crayola watercolors for the backgrounds on both these ATCs. The second card was just because I had the KOMs out and went ahead and used them :) I used a technique my sister told me about. While the paint is still wet you sprinkle on salt and let it dry. Brush it off and your left with a splotchy effect.

Now...the reason to celebrate.
Yesterday was Unity's 6th Birthday and they're celebrating all weekend with 56% off using the code UNITY6.
Tomorrow is (inter)National Scrapbooking Day! Some sites (including Papercrafter's Corner) are starting today. I'm clearing the card making off my table and setting up the scrapbooking supplies so I'll be ready to scrap the weekend away.
Finally...Today is MY BIRTHDAY!

PCC Earth Day Challenge

There's an awesome Earth Day challenge at PaperCrafter's Corner.
Since I like to repurpose, reuse anyway.... :)
Here is what I started with:
Most of the time this is how I store some of my craft things. But ever since I started scrapbooking the project life way I needed something a little more organized. So these boxes became these boxes:
I was originally going to make 2 boxes but I realized I needed a third one.

This box holds my most used things. I call it my reminder box because it has a little bit of everything which reminds me to look for the rest of my stash. Those strips of paper with the Halloween washi? There's 5 strips that have samples of the washi tapes that I have in a box. The yellow note paper? that has all the sayings of my date stamps. What else is in the box? Scissors, tape, stickers, journal cards, rub ons....

This one is for the most used stamps. I used a few Unity stamps on the sides as a reminder to use them as well. Besides, I get an extra entry for using the word 'peace' :)

I made this last box to hold my loose 6x6 DCWV paper. It will go in the cabinet with the rest of my 6x6 pads without falling everywhere.
So, there's my Earth Day project. All the paper is from the DCWV Midnight Chic stack. I love this stack.

Here are the organizers with the Project life one I made before.
I hope you decide to give this challenge a try. You can make anything and all the details, as well as prize info, is here.

It looks like SPRING has really arrived.
This week's PaperCrafter's Corner Magazine Monday challenge has my favorite colors for cards...black, white, & red.

Here's my take on it

I want to thank Steph at PaperCrafter's corner for this awesome prize! :)

I finally broke out a Darice embossing folder that I bought a long time ago.
I decided to add a couple PL layouts. For some reason Blogspot thinks they look better upside down ;)

FWF & Gelatos

Hi Everyone!

This week has been kinda busy for me. I think that sometimes I just try to do to many things at once. Last night I just wanted to play. I picked out some Unity stamps, my gelatos, my Pitt artists pens and some watercolor paper. I just wanted to make a few ATCs.

Please excuse my shadow. It really wanted in the pictures ;)

Anyway, that's it for me. Remember Unity is having a GREAT sale this weekend. And, if you're looking for a challenge to make use of your awesome Unity stamps check out my previous post or just head straight to PaperCrafter's Corner.

PCC challenge

Hi everyone!

Here is this weeks PaperCrafter's Corner challenge inspiration...
I didn't have a lot of time this week but I did manage to make a simple card. I even used a punch that I haven't even touched for a long, long time! There's still time to enter :)
Papercrafter's Corner is also having another challenge. An earth day challenge. You are to use anything that has been sitting around a while, recycled, or tossed to make something new. I like doing this anyway it's just figuring out what to do. I was thinking I would make a companion piece to this PL tray. It's made from a Victoria's Secret gift set box.
I have lots of little things like stamps, washi, diecuts, etc that need a centralized home. I have a couple boxes that I think will work out well for this challenge.

I must be CRAZY!

Hi Everyone!

This week's PaperCrafter's Corner challenge was to use magazines. Any project as long as it used something from a magazine. I had a Self magazine on the table and started looking through it to get some inspiration. The inside cover had a Maybelline ad that had LIVE.LOVE.SMOULDER.IN EXPERT COLOR written down one side. What did I see? LIVE IN COLOR. I took out my art journal and began sketching out shapes. Then I took out my hole punch and began filling in the shapes. This is where the crazy comes in....all those punched dots came from magazines!

Once I added the words I felt like it needed something. BUTTERFLIES! Unity to the rescue. I stamped them on cellophane so the background colors would show through.
Anyway.....I hope everyone has a great week! I'm not looking forward to getting more SNOW on Sunday! Depending on the track of the storm we could get 6" or more of snow. I REALLY want winter to be over!
Maybe I should just shop Unity's sale ;)

One challenge, 2 ways

Hi Everyone!

Papercrafter's Corner has a weekly challenge that I've been wanting to participate in. Usually the week is over before I remember to make something. When I saw their reminder post I sat down to make something. You can make whatever you want for this challenge using the inspiration photo.
The inspiration

First I made a journal page. The heart and wave are hand drawn. I painted it with watercolor crayons. Then I pulled out my stamps...Unity, Making Memories, Tim Holtz. I almost didn't post this. The optional part of the challenge is to use the number 40. (It's their 40th week) When I tried to erase the pencil marks the ink smeared. Then I tried to cover it with a music stamp from 7 Gypsies. That smeared even worse. Out came the gesso. And more painting. Now I like it!
While I was waiting for the gesso to dry I decided to make a card. Just in case the journal page didn't work out.I used the colors from the inspiration to make it. A long time ago dry wall tape was very popular for papercrafting. Companies began making it in different colors for scrapbooking. I remembered I had a roll in orange and that started the process for my card.

If you ever want to play along the challenge is posted on Monday.

FWF

Hi Everyone!
I meant to post these last week but I got sidetracked with Valentine's Day.

I had scraps of paper that I cut into strips to create the background on one card and the border on the other. I really like how they turned out. And of course, I used a Unity stamp :)

FWF

Hi Everyone! It's Friends with Flair but I think today it should be Freezing With Flair. :)
I haven't played FWF lately because I've been working on my scrapbooks. Once I get some stamping done in them I'll share some pics. Since it's been so cold I figured it would be a good time to get inky and add some cards to my stash.

Be sure to check out the GARAGE SALE at Unity. There are some great deals to be had.

Keep Warm!

Gelato Journal

Take the Challenge with Mou from the Design Memory Craft blog

The Challenge: Pick an art piece and let it inspire you to create

The artist I chose was  Lian Quan Zhen. Not so much for what he creates but how. I love the way he manipulates watercolors. Agnes Cecile also uses similar techniques in her watercolors.
This is actually my second attempt. I first tried a butterfly and rainbow. But that one didn't turn out the way I wanted it to. So I tried again. The flowers were made by blowing and dragging the brush end through the watered down Gelatos. This was so much fun!
