PCC 137

Hi Everyone!

This is PaperCrafters Corner Magazine Monday challenge #137.

The inspiration piece is beautiful. You can make so many creations with this image. I chose the number 3 and the red flower.

I just bought this Art Impressions stamp set and really wanted to use it, Number 3....3 ladies....Works for me! I used my Spectrum Noir markers in reds and pinks to color it in. 

Although it took me two tries (the StazOn black kept bleeding) I still had fun with it.

PCC #135

Hi Everyone!

This has been a very distracting week for me. 

My Florida sister is in town. 

My daughter came home for spring break. 

I need to get financial aid forms filled out.

Our cars need work done on them. 

Soooooo, my card this week for the PaperCrafters Corner challenge is a simple and quick one.

First up is the inspiration.

I was drawn to the red with the print and the 3 columns.

Off I go. Pack lunches, put away groceries.....

PCC #134 & a fun technique

I don't know about where you are but today was a BEAUTIFUL day!! 

And this week's PaperCrafters Corner challenge was also beautiful!

I started out wanting to use the flowers as inspiration but I kept being drawn to the clothes. 

I stole hubby's foil tape a long time ago but never used it. Until now. I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder and colored the roses with my Spectrum Noir markers. I also used them on the stamp and sentiment mat. 

I really love how this card turned out so I made 2 more.

For this card I colored the foil with the markers the I embossed it using a Spellbinders Impressabilities. It's kind of like a metal stencil. After embossing, without removing the impressability,  I took a cotton ball and a little rubbing alcohol to remove the visible color. I love the end result. 

I did the same thing with the Spellbinders butterfly die cuts. I covered two scraps of cardstock. One I embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. The second one I colored with purple Spectrum Noirs. I then used the rubbing alcohol to blend the color. Once the Spellbinders butterflies were cut and embossed I again used an alcohol cotton ball to remove the color. It's finished with a Unity sentiment 'inked' with the marker. 

I finally finished the afghan I was making for my daughter from another mother. 

I already know she loves it since I posted it on Instagram. 

And, finally, thank's to my daughter I have a new addiction.

These are called Tsum Tsums. They're packages in mystery bags and you don't know what character you get......unless you can guess by feeling them. ;)

Whew! That's it for me. Dinner, made by my son, is almost ready.

RAK day with PaperCrafters Corner

Hi everyone!

Did you know that today is 

RANDOM ACTS of KINDNESS DAY?

I didn't either....until I saw Stephanie's post on Facebook. She also has a challenge on the blog. It's super easy....craft a RAK. http://papercrafterscorner.com/ has all the details.

For the RAK I made 2 cards.

The first one is for a family friend that just had a hip replacement due to hip dysplasia. She is my daughter's oldest friend. Literally, since birth. While catching up on scrapbooking I came across a photo that I've been meaning to give to her. So....this challenge came at the perfect time. 

The second card is for my daughter. She has been wanting to take a few photos back to school but always forgets to pack them. I decided to be a nice momma and send them to her. 

Both cards are already out for the mail carrier so I don't forget to send them. 

Thanks Steph for a much needed challenge! Just the kick I needed. :)

PCC 132. My Valentine

Hi everyone!

Happy Valentine's Day!

The PaperCrafters Corner challenge for this week is perfect for creating a Valentine.

Red, white, and black are my favorite colors for cards.

I bought a new Darice branch die. I thought it would be cute covered in red hearts. I used 2 different heart punches and Spellbinders alphabet dies.

Quick and easy. :)

I'm still working on the afghan for my daughter's friend. The center is finished. Now I'm working on the border. Hopefully it will be done soon.

A crafty week

Hi Everyone!

I can't believe I'm this late (for me anyway) getting the card I made for PaperCrafters Corner Magazine Monday Challenge #131. I'll show you what I've been doing after the challenge.

I do NOT like snow unless it's photo. SO I DO like this inspiration piece. 

I thought it would be simple.....watercolor a background and stamp the trees. Nope. it didn't stamp well in multiple colors. It took me 3 tries to stamp the trees. Here is the final result.

I had started a crocheted afghan that was made in squares that are stitched together. Each square took me a whole day to make. It called for 30 squares. It was not fun. Not at all. Mainly because it used a reverse single crochet which is done left to right. My hands did not like it. Why keep going if it's not relaxing and fun? So.....I started a new afghan for my daughter from another mother. Otherwise known as my daughter's best friend.

This will be the center. The border is something new for me in that it's done by itself and then stitched on to the center. My hands are much happier with this pattern. 

I've also been working on my project life type album.

When I first started scrapping this way I wanted all the journaling printed. As a result I wasn't getting far. Now I'm using my own handwriting and the pages are getting done. And that's whats important. I have 14 years that are mostly complete. One more year and I'm at the point where I got my first digital camera. Now a new nightmare starts. Getting all those photos PRINTED! 

One step at a time. One step at a time.

So there you have my crafty week.

I was drawn to the black and white around her eyes. The birds are a Spellbinders Sapphire die. The stamp is Unity.

Using SCRAPS

Hi Everyone!

This week I finally decided to sort through my cardstock scraps. I had them in large ziplock bags by color and the were getting all bent up. I went to Dollar Tree to find something, anything to store my scraps. I ended up getting medium sized manila envelopes. Not the best solution but I'm planning on put lots of the scraps to use. I should throw out a lot of them but I just can't! I mean, I just got the Spellbinders Sapphire dies and they're small. :)

So......on to a few cards I made with the scraps.

I started my sort with the red/pink scraps. To make this card I glued the strips into a piece of copy paper and embossed it. I used Unity stamps, Spectrum Noir markers, Darice and Spellbinders Sapphire dies to complete the card. I'm entering this in the Unity monthly challenge to use red and pink. Also the Spectrum Noir monthly challenge.

This woven card started out like this:

I taped strips of white card stock to a piece of junk mail. Using the mini circle Gelli plate and Dylusions paints I made my print. The Spellbinders sentiment finished off the card.

I'm entering this in Carolyn Dube's challenge to use something that would have been thrown away. 

This last card was started a long time ago. At least the embossing. I wanted to try something different but I didn't know what. I pulled out some gloss varnish and started painting the raised area just to see what it would look like. I liked it! Once it dried I added the Spellbinders and gems.

Hi Everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's!

Mine was quiet and happy. :)

Since Santa brought me new Spectrum Noirs I decided to make a card. 

I used a Unity stamp, Spectrum Noir markers, and a label using my label maker. I messed up my stamping and the label covered it perfectly. I really had a hard time finding the label maker. The box it was in could have used a LABEL! :)

Merry Christmas!

Hi Everyone!

I can't believe that Christmas is only a few days away! I am not ready. We just put up the tree. O still have wrapping and baking to do yet. Well, I'm not stressing. What gets done gets done. I just want to enjoy the holiday, not stress it.

Here are a few cards for the Susan K. Weckesser Christmas Love Campaign.

I used some scrap paper and some ephemera that I found hiding in my stash. Not my usual style but they were fun to make.

Hi Everyone!

I can't believe that Christmas is almost here. The weather feels more like spring. That makes me VERY happy!

It's so fun. For some reason (Maybe PCC's 12 Days of Christmas giveaways)  I was drawn to the man's packages. 

I covered some chip board to make the packages, added holly paper and the sentiment. All done :)

PaperCrafters Corner week 125

Hi Everyone! 

This week's challenge at PaperCraftersCorner is very colorful.

I LOVE that Stephanie gives ideas for these challenges. I saw circles and triangles on her list and immediately knew what I wanted to make.



I recently bought 2 Spellbinders dies from Tuesday Morning and put them use. The 'ornaments' are regular hole punches in 2 different sizes.

Look at what came in the mail this week!!!

This is the prize I won from the configurations box challenge at PaperCrafters Corner. The box was stuffed full of Halloween goodies. An album, 12x12 paper, 6x6 paper, ribbon, washi, stamps, embellishments....The list goes on....and on.

PCC #124

Hi Everyone!

I hope you're all doing well.

This week hasn't been the best for us. Our dog, Penny, was supposed to have surgery today to remove some mammary tumors. She ended up with an infection in the mammary chain so the surgery has been postponed. She's feeling better but not quite her old self yet.

Add that to last night's Paris attack, and attacks in other places.....not a good week.

But today's post is about card making.

This week's inspiration at PaperCrafters Corner is beautiful. I love the fall colors!

Using the colors and the flowers I created a Thank You card.

This card gave me the opportunity to use some more of these Prima flowers that I've had for a long time. (Bonus!) I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder, Unity stamps, and Colorbox chalk ink. 

Hoping for a better week for me and a GREAT week for you!

I know I'll be praying not just for Paris but also for HUMANITY!

PCC #123

Hi Everyone.

It's almost Halloween. Are you ready?

PaperCrafters Corner is more than ready. Challenge 123 features PUMPKINS!

My card does not. :) I used the colors. Especially the orange.

I used Colorbox white ink to stamp the flowers and sentiment. The flowers are colored using Prismas. I recently learned that Prismas show up on black. That makes me happy.

While I had the stamps out I made a second card. 

I stamped on 7 Gypsies paper and colored the flowers with Spectrum Noir markers. It took 2 tries to get the stamping right. I mistakenly thought I had enough room for the top flower without masking the one next to it. Oops. Instead of throwing it out I cut out the one good flower. I added it to the bottom flower with a pop dot. I actually like it better.

Halloween configurations FUN

Some close-ups

I made the spider from my stash of beads. It was painted with  Deco Art black paint then I added Ranger dauber paint in silver to match the skeletons.

I used the same technique from the spider to color the bottle and skull ring on the right and the skull beads on the left.The chandelier is from Blue Moon beads. I colored the pearl with a sharpie. I couldn't find any pumpkins I liked so I made both from salt dough and then painted them. The moon scene is from the packaging,

 The chains are from old jewelry, the bat from dollar tree, and the bottles are Blue Moon Beads. The locket/mirror I found in my stash. If you look close you just might see a ghost.

I made the books from scraps. The tombstone is from Dollar Tree. The bottle idea came from Brandy. 

The crystal balls idea aslo came from Brandy. I used salt sough to make the witch hat.  

The blood stone are rocks from my yard. The ax is from Blue Moon Beads.
